Computer Security
(Original 5/2003; revised 2/2007)

My laptop computer is locked in a filing cabinet at night. My desktop is password-protected. Both have firewall protection. My backup disks are password-protected and locked in my office. I use a wireless connection to a printer in my office to speed printing your documents before you go.  This is a secure network which is not visible to computers other than my own.

Nevertheless, the absolute security of your health information is not guaranteed.  I guarantee to do my best.  A healthcare system that expects perfection and sues for any human mistake is seriously flawed -- and very, very expensive compared to more realistic expectations.  So at Co-Psych I'll try to balance the search for perfect security with some degree of realism and respect for your healthcare dollar. For example, I will not be locking down my desktop other than leaving it in my locked office inside the locked Samaritan Professional Building, which also has 24 hour security.
